Now you may all be spoilt middle class brats obsessed with status and money. "Big Brother" and "Queer Eye for a Straight Guy" may be the height of your political understanding of society.
"Well dudes" (is this current street talk?) you sniveling worms will be nurses/doctors/pharmacists one day and God help us all. I know that this hardly bears thinking about because half of you haven't even been on your "GAP year" yet, but it will happen. It chokes us to think that the generation of the "individual" might be in control one day. We all know that you don't give a monkey's about anybody other than yourselves!
Or do you? Are you concerned about the developing world, do you fret about the role of profit in health care, do you believe in professional values or are both medicine and nursing just another job? You guys are the future and you can make a difference (petty psychological twist) .
We want you to take the Pledge and publicly have your name displayed on the website.
Here are some ideas...........
- Read and think. Not learn you idiots -think!
- Take the Pledge.
- Use our Wallpapers and sounds on computers. They will hopefully serve to irritate!
- Speak out. You have a right to express your views and don't be intimidated by people in position. You are just students and they will just ignore you anyway.
- Pressure your University to provide undergraduate teaching. We will provide speakers as needed to your University.
- Organize meetings locally.
- Challenge colleagues. Even professors!
- Tell us any stories that you hear.
- Don't be ashamed - it's not wrong to give a damn.
- Anybody wanting to establish a student branch - we will offer help and support.
Lastly remember that this was founded by the Yanks. They are bunch of bloody arch capitalists and they're ahead of us. Let's show our old colonial cousins how activism should be done.
